Reclaiming The Kingdom of Cerulean

Exorder is a fantasy turn based strategy game developed by Solid9 Studio and published by Fat Dog Games. Players can either challenge series of campaigns to unravel the game’s story or compete in cross-platform multiplayer mode.

A Familiar Gameplay In Fantasy Settings

Exorder somehow fills the void that Warcraft III left as fans waited for a fun, fantasy strategy game. Instead of an RTS where combat is done in real time, it has a turn-based combat similar to Advanced Wars, XCOM, Ancient Empires and Shadowrun Returns. JRPG fans might find this type of genre familiar and easy to pick up.

A Throne To Seize

The strategy game is filled with contents that can fill the whole weekend. Players can immerse with the game’s 12 missions for the single-player campaign. After the death of Cerulean’s king, its two heirs Princess Beyla and Prince Tristan are having a feud who should have the crown. The two rivals attract different kinds of personalities, either assisting them in their skirmish or sabotage their plans. Players can find out who will inherit the throne as they plow through the missions.

Hours Of Strategy And Fantasy

Upon starting a mission, the game shows cut scenes with narration so players can grasp what is going on with the story. Players are presented with a very easy to use HUD once the mission begins. The top portion of the screen indicates whose turn is it to do an action. Every playable unit has their stats indicated clearly, from health to attack points. Numbers like damage counters are flashed clearly so that players know the amount of damage they inflict or receive. At the upper left-hand side of the screen are the objectives that players must fulfill. Every time they get their turn, a playable unit displays the amount of space they can traverse, as well as what attack they can use. There are more than 10 playable units that have unique skills so that there is diversity in gameplay and players have to decide which unit is suitable for a scenario. After completing the campaign mode, players can also try the 8 challenge maps where their strategy and cunning are tested. Players can also play against others in cross-platform multiplayer mode. This is another breakthrough regarding cross-platform support because only a few games have enabled that feature. Players can earn in-game achievements every time they accomplish some game parameters. They may try to unlock all achievements as a challenge for themselves.

A Fantasy World Awaiting To Be Played

Exorder delivers what every strategy game fans wanted: an enjoyable story with interesting visuals and an easy to grasp gameplay. Another key thing that this game has is its cross-platform support. Keep in mind that some missions will require close planning to complete head-scratching challenges.
